Helen started the day by opening her present before breakfast. It wasn't actually a surprise - she had helped Momma pick it out at Target when the boys were gone to the west side of the state for fishing. But it was a long-awaited gift - she's been wanting a Barbie camper for over a year. This wasn't the one she had originally picked out on Amazon; she went with this camper since it came with a little row boat and fish and she figured her brothers would enjoy playing this with her (that's some advance planning, appropriate for a pandemic when your playmates are often limited to your brothers!)
Breakfast = waffles with mermaid ice cream
Yum!
After a trip to the library, we decided to make it our mission to visit three different playgrounds.
Playground #1 - Genoa Park
This girl has some serious arm strength. She's better at this than her brothers!
Playground #2 - Hilton Elementary
Playground #3 - Spencer Elementary
A zoomed in shot of the three kids playing music together (Momma knew if she moved in closer to take the photo, they'd scatter)
Thursday is swim day in the summer! Thanks to our lovely neighbors, Greg & Lidia, we got to swim every Thursday this summer. What a blessing to give us the space (they maintained proper social distancing by staying in the house or leaving for the park usually while we were there). We are so blessed to have such kind neighbors! And being able to swim on your birthday is pretty sweet.
The not-so-nice milestone that Helen received on her birthday was getting her first bee stings. She felt something in her dress and reached in to pull it out, not realizing that a bee (bees?) was inside. She wound up with two stings on her back. Life is full of sweet, and also difficult moments.
We ended the day with a Wild Kratt movie, popcorn, and a slumber party in the living room. It's pretty good to be six.
