Beautiful Savior

Henry has always had an ear for music. Recently, he figured out how to play "Beautiful Savior" by ear on his keyboard (which he recorded and played in the video below). This song has always been a special one for him. When he was a baby, Mommy used to sing this to him before he went to sleep. It was one that our extended family would often sing when we gathered for a meal at Grandma and Grandpa Moldenhauer's house in North Tonawanda, NY. It was a song we sang at our wedding. And when Micah was two, he learned to sing "Beautiful Savior" (we called it "The Great-Grandpa Moldy song") and "Jesus, Savior, Pilot Me" (Grandma's favorite - we called it "The Great Grandma Moldy song"), in anticipation of when we would be able to travel out there to see them.

When Henry was one month old, we took a January trip out to North Tonawanda to introduce him to Great Grandma and Great Grandpa Moldenhauer, knowing Great Grandma's health was failing. It turns out, God's timing was absolutely perfect. We arrived that evening, while Great Grandma was still awake. When she saw baby Henry, her eyes lit up. Micah joined us in singing both "Beautiful Savior" and "Jesus, Savior, Pilot Me" as she went to sleep. That night she went home to see her Beautiful Savior!

Because of all this, Momma was thrilled when Henry spent a day sounding out and recording this song (though she couldn't understand why he chose to play in in the key of E flat!).

Later, in January, Henry sounded out "Beautiful Savior" on the guitar as well.
