Sunday, Sept 13 we headed out to one of our favorite spots, Island Lake State Rec Area. We parked at the shopping plaza and headed in the back way to be close to a fishing spot the boys wanted to hit. But first, we tailgated with fast food for our dinner.
Most of the color of summer wildflowers has gone, and the autumn leaves haven't started yet, but Helen and Momma found some interesting views anyhow.
Helen wanted a turn to take photos of nature...
The two of us headed down a road to a location we hadn't walked to before - nearby a campsite, where we hunted for a geocaching site. Helen was thrilled to be the one to discover the geocache under this fallen tree! Our walks together through the woods are a great time for chatting together and made Momma look forward to our coming girls' trip to the U.P.
We weren't able to find any other geocaches that day, so we headed towards the lake to check on the status of our boys.
Henry was learning how to deal with the worms.
Give this boy a fishing rod and a lake and he's a happy boy.
Daddy, the fishing hero, who always takes the fish off!
