The big day was finally here - Mommy's baby brother, Uncle Davey, was getting married to Aunt Jamie on June 14!
Henry started the day in a tux t-shirt, but Mommy said Daddy had to change him....Micah the ring bearer and Calla the flower girl were all practiced up. But when the moment came, there was some major hesitation. First Micah said he didn't really want to do it. Then Aunt Heather told him he could help Calla spread the flower petals, so he was back on board again. Then Calla decided she wasn't interested in walking down the aisle - until Aunt Heather convinced her to go if Micah carried her basket for her. So Micah ended up carrying the flower girl basket in addition to his ring bearer pillow and together the two of them spread the flower petals... whew!
Mommy decided that that being the mother of the ring bearer was much more nerve-wracking than being a bride at her own wedding (most of that negotiation all happened as everyone was waiting for the little kids to walk down the aisle)! Daddy did get a video from the front row... which we will upload as soon as Mommy can find the cord for the video camera (ugh). If this photo were taken from the front, you would notice that Micah refused to wear his boutonniere. "Boys don't wear flowers," he said as he ripped it off his shirt after Grandma had pinned it there (despite the fact that all of his uncles were wearing them that day...).
It was truly a beautiful ceremony! It included a message by Poppa, singing by Uncle Davey & Aunt Jamie with their college choir friends...
... and a Bible reading by Great Poppa Moldy.
After the ceremony was finished, Micah quickly took advantage of a down moment to grab a juice box. (Mommy wouldn't let him have one before the ceremony, for fear of spills.)

Everyone smiled for the photos... everyone except Micah. Although Mommy had spent months preparing Micah for his role as ring bearer, carrying his pillow down the aisle, she failed to inform him that the job description also included being in photos, which he flatly refused. Thus, there are no wedding party photos with the ring bearer. (Mommy also blames Daddy for this since it is the Roe males who carry the gene of hating to be in photos.)
Micah finally compromised and would be in a photo with Uncle Davey - IF Mommy was in it with him (but still, no smile...).
Off to the reception then, where Mommy served as a hostess and we were all entertained by Uncles Ben, Andy, and Josh as they did a toast/speech together, giving Jamie advice about how to survive living with David.
After a delicious dinner, we enjoyed dancing - and Micah finally felt like smiling!
The boys had a blast dancing! Here Micah was trying to wipe his nose on Mommy's big belly.
Henry danced as well, though he was getting sleepy and asking for his pacifier!
Even Daddy danced! This time it was with his mom - Grandma Roe.
It was fun to have Grandma and Poppa Roe there. They sat with us at our table! (Micah took this photo of them.)
Henry got a chance to dance with the bride...
... and the groom!
Of course, the groom also danced with his mom.
And Grandma & Poppa took a turn dancing.
Even polka!
Of course, Grandma also saved a polka dance for her dad, Great Poppa Schmidt.
Later, Great Poppa Schmidt led the crowd in the Schmidt family tradition - Sie Leben Hoch! Grandpa led the singing in German, while Uncle Pete served as his translator, explaining what was happening.
The bride & groom were seated on chairs and surrounded.
They were they lifted up - and well-shaken.
Back down again as they were given their "nightcaps" to wear.
And lifted up again & shaken!
Here's a little clip of it in action...

Uncle Paul with his daughter Grace
Miss Danielle - she let Micah take her camera for a while and helped him do his first ever selfie!
What a beautiful day and a beautiful couple!
The bridal couple even impressed the crowd with their swing dancing skills!
Mommy's brothers and parents
The next morning, we gathered to start saying good-bye as everyone went their separate ways. But first we paused for a photo of all the "Mrs. Moldy's" (Jen, Heather, Lynice, Lisa, Corleen, and Jamie, the newest).
Our family had a nice lunch over at Jamie's parents' house and had a chance to go swimming (Micah's goals for the weekend were to sleep in a hotel and go swimming - but our hotel didn't have a pool, so we were invited to swim at Jamie's brother's pool). The pool was FREEZING! But Daddy was brave (earned his stripes on that Father's Day!) and went in with boys so they could swim for a little bit (Mommy stayed on the deck and just put her legs in). Then Dave & Jamie opened their gifts, but we headed towards home as it was nap time.We did make a quick stop at Great Poppa Schmidt's house, where we saw some new kittens in the garage and Mommy picked rhubarb.
What a fun weekend! We are so happy to officially add Aunt Jamie to our family and can't wait to hear all about their new life together down in Collinsville, IL! Congratulations, Uncle Davey and Aunt Jamie!
