Good-bye Pacifier!

This week saw a wonderful milestone in our house - Micah threw away his pacifiers!

About a month ago, Micah was helping Mommy wash dishes (a favorite activity of his). He was also washing pacifiers at the time. When Daddy walked in the room, he suggested that we cut the end off of Micah's pacifier, since he was getting too big for it. Surprisingly, Micah agreed. So, before Mommy could protest, Daddy grabbed the scissors. At nap time that day, Micah briefly put the pacifier in his mouth before telling us, "I'm a big boy; I don't need my paffa." He never used it again. He did question us once in a while about where his other paffa was (we had two pacifiers), but it honestly was lost.

When we were on Schmidt Vacation, Mommy discovered the lost, intact pacifier in a suitcase, but didn't bring it to Micah's attention. Finally, this week, Mommy asked if Micah was ready to throw away his pacifiers. He agreed, even after he found out that Mommy had discovered the intact pacifier (though he was very curious about where it had been found). He didn't put either of them in his mouth as he proudly carried them to the trash. He didn't even pause long enough for Mommy to get a decent photo before tossing them in. Whew! We are so proud of our big boy!
