One thing they both enjoyed was plowing the driveway. Since we moved into our Fontanelle Lane house at New Years 2012, Daddy didn't have a chance to figure out a way to get the driveway plowed - so we paid the neighbor's brother to do it for us. But over the summer, Daddy got the old tractor from the out building working and when we got our big Christmas snow, he hooked up the plow to try it out. Micah has a love/hate relationship with the tractor. He really is excited about it (he's a boy, after all), but he also really doesn't like things that are noisy - and this tractor is REALLY noisy (and stinky, in Mommy's opinion). But Daddy bought him a pair of earmuffs this summer and apparently, they did the trick. Micah cried when it was time for him to get off the tractor with Daddy!
Micah and Daddy also enjoyed playing out in the snow, though they both got colds so that limited their outdoor time over the break.
They did build lots of towers with Micah's new blocks (Well, to be truthful... Daddy built lots of towers and Micah focused on knocking them down. If you've never seen a grown man get territorial over blocks with a two-year-old, well, it's not pretty).
But Micah sure had fun with it!
As always, we read a lot of books in our house. One of our many favorites has been Frog and Toad. Micah likes the story about when Toad made himself a to-do list.
So one day, Micah made his own list, with Daddy's help. When asked what was on his list, he told us: "wrestle with Daddy, buy milk at the grocery store, and eat dessert." What better day could a two-year old ask for?!
Wrestling with Daddy has become a nightly event in our home. There is the specific "wrestling blanket" - it was a real tragedy when it had to be washed because Henry spit up on it during "tummy time". And you can just tell when it's getting to be that time in the evening - Micah needs his wrestle time with Daddy!
In the video, you can see that Micah has been practicing his tackling moves during wrestling time (we also watched a LOT of football during Daddy's Christmas break!). Disclaimer: this was Mommy's first video on her phone and she didn't know you have to turn it horizontal!
One of Mommy's favorite things about having Daddy home was starting the project of taking down the ugly wallpaper in the kitchen. Yea! Micah thought this was pretty fun as well.
In fact, we all were feeling a bit bummed when Daddy had to go back to work. We love having him home!
