Growth Chart Updates, Flint Children's Museum - Week of Jan 25, 2016

This week the Roe kids weighted in at the pediatrician. Henry was in the 78th percentile for weight and 88th percentile for height. His current trajectory says he'll end up at 6'2".

Helen was in the 44th percentile for weight and 46th percentile for height. Her current trajectory says she will be 5'4". "That's short!" said Mom. "Well, that's average," said Dr. Bobby, "just short for your family." The doctor was impressed with Helen - said he's never seen someone her age so good at blowing her nose. Unfortunately, we discovered she has an ear infection.
For Micah, it was his first time to pee into a cup. He was incredulous that he was supposed to do this! But he managed it fine. Unfortunately, while that was going on, Helen threw paper towel into the toilet - and retrieved it. Micah is in the 66th percentile for weight and 96th percentile for height. Current trajectory says he'll be 6'3" and weigh 160 lbs (Daddy says that's an impossible ratio for a Roe... we'll see).
Read wherever you can!

On Monday we colored eggs. Just because. Who says you have to wait until Easter?

It's more fun to eat hard boiled eggs now!
A trumpeting concert on Tuesday (using funnels).

Baby doll wasn't a fan of this music, apparently.

More musical variety...

Helen's turn to try out the musical stage

Henry leaped at the chance to play outside while Daddy grilled venison burgers for dinner.

On Wednesday, Micah told us he's planning a bacon eating contest for our family. "We'll cook up some bacon and save it all up. We'll go outside and put a lot of bacon on our plates and see who can eat the most."
The kids chased Dad outside after dinner since he brought home chocolate chip cookies and they were all hyped up on sugar after dessert. Henry actually caught Daddy three times! (It seems that extra cookies speed kids up and slow adults down!)
After their game of tag, the kids still had energy... but Dad was tired. So they had jumping practice in the living room.
It was a good opportunity for Helen to practice taking turns (she still needs more practice).

Micah's CBS class - he loves music time!
Thursday Mom had an ultrasound to check for kidney stones. She told the technician this was slightly less exciting than finding out if it's a boy or a girl.

Meanwhile, Micah tried out an experiment with oil and melting ice cubes.

We attended "Uncle" Michael's basketball game in Lansing.
The boys hated the buzzer but Helen loved the drinking fountain.
Friday we traveled to the Flint Children's Museum with the Fairbanks kids and their mom.

Helen wanted to drive - both the fire truck and the helicopter - all the time.

Lucy's turn to drive.

Ring that bell!
Henry's favorite part was playing the mail carrier - just like he enjoys at home.

Mom's favorite part was watching the three kids play together at the "grocery store." Helen put the items out of the cart and onto the conveyor belt. Henry rang them up (also taking a phone call with the credit card scanner). And Micah put them back into the cart.

Multi-tasking!
Taking the groceries home
Problem solving - who gets to be in the doorway!
Lucy helped unload groceries.

Barrett joined us on the firetruck.

Puppet theatre presents Henry!

"I have a dream" - great timing since we had just learned about Martin Luther King Junior.

Where will it end up?
Pulling his own weight
Sending the golf balls down this spiral kept us entertained for a long time.
The music room!

Some highlights
Learning about Jesus calling the first disciples.

CBS homework
Our homemade version of "Five Green and Speckled Frogs."

Off to Kroger for groceries. Helen was thrilled to be big enough to ride in the "car" shopping cart.
Gotta enjoy the nice weather with a little baseball, even if it's January and there's snow on the ground...
