When our friend Miss Jan cleaned out her garage, she passed along her daughter's old Slip 'N Slide to us. The boys were very interested in learning about this new toy and when we got a nice hot day, they convinced us to bring it out.
We first set it up on the hill going down to the garage, thinking the hill would make for some added fun (in hind sight, this wasn't the best idea for the beginner level).
The boys did try it out and had some fun.
Mommy decided to take some videos, since it was hard to capture the action just with still shots. The boys weren't really getting the "slide" part down - it was more like run and jump onto the puddle at the end... maybe because the hill was too steep for these newbies?
Nevertheless, they sure enjoyed it!
Eventually, though, we decided to put it the main front yard, since the mosquitoes were annoying where we originally set it up. There definitely was more "sliding" happening in the new location. Micah was starting to grasp the concept, though he continued to go feet-first. Henry's sliding was purely accidental, though he didn't seem to mind.
Daddy decided to help the boys have a better understanding of the "slide" part, so he picked Henry up and whizzed him down the slip 'n slide. Henry was less than thrilled (perhaps it's just as well that portion didn't make it on camera). Mommy did get Micah's run though, and he thought it was fun.
Helen did enjoy the show, however, and feeling like she was a part of the action.
She kept crawling out of her tent to get closer to the slip 'n slide.
There's a slide!
Marching works, too...
Running and then jumping into the pool at the end of the slide
So much fun for all! All winter long after this, Micah talked about wanting it to be summer so he could do the slip 'n slide again!
One last run...
