Oh, what an adventure-filled day we can have, even just at home!
Here is an excerpt from an email Mommy sent on this morning:
Henry insisted on wearing big boy underpants this morning. This after he woke up with a wet bed and then climbed into our bed, making it wet also. By 11:15 am, after 4 accidents (2 wet, 2 stinky), we mutually agreed to go back to diapers for now. While I was cleaning up the 2 separate wet spots on the carpet in the boys' room, Micah took it upon himself to attempt to mop the kitchen floor for the first time (he's been eyeing the mop and itching to use it). His efforts consisted of dumping several bowls full of water on the floor and then "mopping" it up, leaving a large puddle, which Henry later slipped and fell into. After having (thankfully) slept through most of our morning excitement, Helen discovered that she can crawl into the kitchen and open/empty drawers...
On the bright side, I have already accomplished several loads of laundry. And in the midst of this, Henry, for the first time, drew an "E" along with his "H." And tonight is my Bible study night, so I get the night off.
Now the boys are attempting to plug things into electrical outlets, so I'd better go!
Though the lighting isn't great for this photo, Helen pulled herself to stand at the end of her nap this morning.
She and Micah got right to work on their laptop for the day.
While Helen napped in the afternoon, Mom let the boys play out in the rain, something they are always asking to do (Mom has a strict temperature threshold for this activity, the logic for which the boys have yet to grasp).
After the scooters were put away, it was time for the foot races to begin. While it looks like Henry is winning this race, he actually only went halfway down the driveway and turned around to run back when he saw Micah turn at the big garage to head back to the finish line.
A few silly selfies after playing in the rain.
Back in the garage, the boys noticed Daddy's shop vac and insisted that they really needed to clean out the garage.
They took turns sucking up the leaves and dirt.
While our home is definitely more chaotic and much less clean than before we had kids, there is a sense of adventure in attempting cleanliness now. God uses our kids to teach us to appreciate the joy in the unexpected and the simple. And that, truly, is a gift.
