Micah is 4! October 19, 2014

Micah's 4th birthday fell on a Sunday and he made sure to tell all his Sunday School teachers that he was four. Daddy brought fruit snacks for the boys during church (we give them snacks during the sermon to keep their mouths quiet). Micah is so sweet and thoughtful; he knows Mommy's favorite are the grape fruit snacks, so he always gives her one. On this day, his pack didn't have any grape fruit snacks. So when he got to the end of his package, he handed the last one over to Mommy and whispered, "Here, Mom, I didn't have any grape ones, but you can have this one."  Now that he's four, Micah is getting bolder. He's not afraid to speak up in front of a crowd as he enjoys answering questions during the Children's Message.  It's great to see his faith developing also. On the way to church, he informed the rest of us that we have to teach Sister about Jesus.
After church, we made an impromptu decision to eat lunch at Safari Playground in Walled Lake. It was our first time there and while we weren't super impressed with the play area or the food, it was a fun and spontaneous way to spend a birthday afternoon.
Micah really wanted to try out the bowling out, and Daddy couldn't say no to the birthday boy.
He got tips from Daddy on how to throw the ball down the short lane. Micah really seems to enjoy all sports. He loves learning about new sports and doing his best to imitate them.

Of course, we had to get dessert for the birthday boy and his little brother.

Back at home, Micah put his new truck to work while Henry napped.
Daddy gave him instructions on how to accomplish his task of picking up sticks and driving them over to the campfire pit.

Daddy's help was enlisted to get the truck up the steep incline in the backyard.
While the boys were outdoors, Helen and Mommy bonded inside.

Helen is starting to become more vocal. Who would have thought (certainly not quiet Daddy!) that all three of our kids would be rather chatty. Micah often shares his thoughts and Henry has started to talk more and more, while Helen has started her own babbling. At least we keep entertained!
For dinner on Micah's birthday, the boys was introduced to their very first corn dogs (Daddy's choice, not Mommy's). "Mom! It's like a Popsicle - with meat in it!"
We are thankful for our big four year old. He is tenderhearted and polite. He loves his younger siblings, taking seriously his role as the big brother who encourages his little brother and protects and entertains his little sister. He loves learning and pretending. He also showers Mommy and Daddy with expressions of love. He also keeps us entertained. When asked on his 4th birthday what he wants to be when he grows up, Micah says he wants to be someone who looks out for pirates. As Mommy says often, we're so glad God put him in our family!
