Happy 3rd Birthday, Micah!

"October nineteenth!" Micah has been reciting this date for months. Finally the day was upon us and he officially became three years old! We had spent the night at Grandma and Poppa Roe's house, so right away, Micah wanted to go out and find Bell.
Bell first showed up at Grandma's house the last time we visited. Micah was outside when she wandered into the yard and Poppa let Micah choose her name. Grandma tried to convince Mommy to take Bell home, but Mommy thinks having a cat at Grandma's house is a fantastic idea! Bell seems to love living in the barn - and is earning her keep by catching mice like a champ.
After breakfast, we headed off to the Curious Kid's Museum for some great adventures. But the real excitement began when we got back to Grandma's - the cousins started to arrive.
Poor Uncle Kenny was welcomed by a mob of the cousins, using him for a pillow fight target.
Thankfully, some of the aunts and uncles took those kiddos outside to burn off some energy in the barn and in the yard.

The kids found Bell again (it's impressive she is allowing the mob to approach her!).
And they had some good "clean" fun back indoors as well.
Henry loved all the busyness around him. In fact, Henry seemed to have found his voice that weekend - a very LOUD voice. Henry has been doing a fair amount of chattering lately, but when everyone was at Grandma's house, he started "talking" quite loudly... and this has continued, including in church this morning.
Micah did find a quiet moment to read a book with Poppa.
And, of course, there was birthday cake for all the October birthday people - Aunt Allyson, Jason, Micah, and (hopefully) the newest Roe cousin Wesley, who is due to arrive at the end of October.
Micah enjoyed his cake (but don't tell Grandma... somehow the last bit of it ended up on her carpet).
One of the best gifts Micah got was a new Charlie Brown book from Jason and Shannon. He insisted that his cousin Heidi read it to him. She did an excellent job and kept Micah's attention the whole time (despite the hooligans jumping on the bed behind them).
After the day was done, Mommy asked Micah, "Did you have a good birthday?"
"Yes!" he answered, "But I didn't get the present I really wanted."
"Oh?" Mommy was surprised. "What did you want?"
"Underpants!" he quickly replied. And he was dead serious.

We love our three year old and the way he entertains us (and others) daily (this week he told Poppa Moldy that the reason he hadn't seen any chipmunks at the bird feeder that day was because they were all off "having tea"). God has given him a great sense of humor and a kind heart for others, including his younger brother (despite occasionally telling Daddy that if he weren't around, Micah would push Henry down). We look forward to seeing what God will do in Micah's life this next year as he continues to grow!
