Happy 4th of July

Micah had his first experience watching fireworks at the Wolverine Lake Tiki Night this year (last year he slept through Uncle Kenny's fireworks display at Grandma's house). I was admittedly a little nervous about taking him out - he has a strong dislike for loud noises (last week he was in tears over my attempt to use a blender). But thankfully our spot on the boardwalk along Benstein was far enough away from the action that he was ok. He did say "fireworks noisy" a lot, but he enjoyed watching them (for the first 10 minutes anyway... after that, he lost interest).

The late night wore Micah out though - he ended up falling asleep pretty quickly on the way home... and we were amused by his resourcefulness. He got into Jacob's bag, which which was next to his carseat, and pulled out Daddy's shirt and shorts to snuggle with for the ride home.

After we got home and and put Micah into bed, we started taping and prepping to paint his bedroom. That was our big task for the holiday. Micah is a huge fan of his "new green room." Jacob did the bulk of the work - I did all the edging and then was released to go to Uncle Paul's house for our annual 4th of July BBQ and swimming. Didn't get any photos that day, but we did have a chance earlier in the week for Micah to try out the new swimming pool on our back patio.

He was pretty excited about the splashing possibilities. And Daddy got into the action as well. It has been a HOT summer, so a $16 kiddie pool was a good investment!
