In July I joined some of my "old" friends from Conversation B Class "Blue Table" group. We haven't met together for a few years now, so it was really special to connect again. We had gone our separate ways and gradually left the Tuesday afternoon Conversation Class when Karin (our Austrian friend) got a job, Tomoko (our Japanese friend) took up more dance classes (hula and ballet), and I had a baby. Only Yumiko (another Japanese friend) was still in the Conversation Class this past year.
Karin will move back to Europe (Germany, actually) later this summer, so it was good that we had a chance to gather.
And we had two new members of our group - Micah and Karin's daughter Jana, whose just a few months younger than Micah.
Jana's a real doll - a very happy and easy-going baby, like Micah. She looked so close to being able to roll over while we were there - and we heard that she finally did figure it out, just a day or two after our gathering.
Of course, we ate delicious food! Everyone brought nice treats. For the first time I had cold potato soup which Yumiko had made. It sounds maybe a little unappetizing - cold potato soup (especially since I really disliked potato soup as a child... too many times the pastor's family got the potato soup leftovers after the Wednesday night Lenten soup/sandwich dinners). But this stuff was delicious!
Micah also enjoyed the potato soup... as well as his first taste of watermelon (though he had a hard time getting it to stay in his mouth for some reason).
Yumiko did a great job hosting us. She also was very sweet to read a counting book to Micah. Yumiko is a huge Pistons fan. So that's the reason why Micah had to wear his Piston's outfit that day!
Thanks, everyone, for a wonderful afternoon and sharing your photos. Thanks especially to Tomoko for initiating contact with all of us again. Hopefully, we'll have a chance to get together once more before Karin and Jana leave for Germany!
