Moldy Christmas 2015 & New Years 2016

We were so looking forward to having the out-of-town Moldy uncles and aunts in Walled Lake for Christmas! First, a game of Uno (one of our favorites!) with game-loving Uncle Davey and Aunt Jamie.

December 27 is Uncle Andy's birthday, so we all took a field trip after church to visit his substation, where we got a tour of the cool vehicles.

It's fun being in the driver's seat!
Can we get all the kids on the firetruck...

Checking out the ambulance.
Now the police car.

Hopefully Henry's first - and last - time in the backseat of a cop car!
 Girls turn!
 Happy birthday, Uncle Andy!

The next morning, Helen got a little Christmas coloring in before the big family gathering later in the day.

A little educational reading at Grandma's.

A game of cards before we open gifts (Micah loves cards!).
Poppa tells the Christmas story with the grandkids before we open gifts to remind us of the real reason why we celebrate - God's greatest gift in Jesus!

A new hat for Henry. :)
Unfortunately, Uncle Ben and Aunt Lynice weren't able to make it in town for the holidays this year. So we had to Skype our holiday greetings with them.

The next morning, a little Christmas orange for Helen to attempt to peel.
Finally - (a very light dusting of) snow! The boys enthusiastically headed outside to clear the driveway.

Back over to Grandma's for a serious construction project that took over the living room.

It works!
 Two cute kids!

Henry was very proud of his efforts in Connect Four.
All dressed up for the Michigan game on New Year's day!
Henry and Helen hung out together on Micah's train table, while Micah was away (he and Daddy headed out to the Roe side New Year celebration). Shh... don't tell Micah!

Watercolor time!

Playing in the water for the watercolors is just as much fun as the paints!
Her completed piece:
Plus, lots of hand print thank you notes for all the wonderful Christmas gifts.
Meanwhile, Henry was practicing a bit of writing.
Mom wrote his name, and Henry "erased" it with a q-tip.
But Henry really wanted to do the writing himself - and only if it was hanging up on the window.
Erasing is still fun on the window.

Lots of concentration on those lines. It sure is fun to watch these kids explore as they learn!
