Christmas Week - December 2015

As Christmas week began, the boys rehearsed for their parts as sheep in the Christmas Eve Family Service in the gym. They weren't exactly thrilled about wearing the hats. But we were looking forward to Henry's first time joining the Sunday School production.
Our regular routine was out of order, being a holiday week. Instead of our regular CBS class, Wednesday's silliness included wrapping Helen and Micah up like tacos.

Meanwhile, Henry the taco snuggled Daddy on the couch, as Daddy had the afternoon off on this holiday week. It was a good thing Daddy had some time to rest, because...
Thursday morning, Christmas Eve, we awoke to discover a tree had fallen on the other garage. Thankfully, there wasn't much damage to the roof or building.
Daddy spent part of his "vacation" chainsawing up the trunk.
In the afternoon, the kids had one final rehearsal of their songs while they waited to go on stage.

This was Henry backstage. Obviously, he was less than thrilled about getting his photo taken with those silly sheep ears.
Despite the fact that he wasn't interested in wearing the costume ears, Henry did participate in the songs as expected.

No ears for Henry - but he did his best singing!

We enjoyed Henry's dance moves - he really loved that song!
There's evidence, Henry did wear the ears a bit. He was definitely interested in the Holy Family.

 Mommy's Christmas Facebook message:
Merry Christmas from our little sheep! This was Henry's first year in the Christmas Eve pageant at church. He was slightly reluctant to get his photo taken and ad libbed his dance moves a bit.  This Christmas, I'm grateful for a Savior who wasn't at all reluctant to play His role, coming to earth as a little baby, following the script perfectly, and giving us the best gift of all: Love.
Love willing to step into life alongside me. Love that knows all my faults and fears, yet still chooses me. Love that runs deep - even to a cross. O Holy Night!
Meanwhile, in the traditional service, Grandma signed "Breath of Heaven," sung by Yvonne Welte and accompanied by Thomas Czinder.

Back at home, Henry continued his theatrics with a drum concert with his assistant Helen.

Henry even shared Diamond, his new horse, with his little sister

Drum solo

Mom's attempt at a kids Christmas Day photo the next morning was a bit of a fail, but also funny at the same time.

A happier Helen checking out the new t-ball set.

Happy Birthday JESUS!

The boys were very curious what was in the big box with the snowman on it.

It was snow shovels for the boys! They were thrilled! Since we didn't have any snow really at this point, they decided to break them in while shoveling Easter eggs in the living room. Whatever works!

 Trying out the t-ball set.

 Another attempt at Christmas photos...

And just like that, Mom's quiet time alone is finished. Was taking a moment to blog when she heard a crash. An investigation found Henry (who was supposed to be napping), having helpfully removed his own diaper and unhelpfully having peed in the bed. And on the floor. And in a box full of Legos. Back to work for this momma!
Practicing digging and throwing that snow!

 More t-ball
We were glad for a visit from Great Grandpa Schmidt and Uncle Josh's family. Of course, we had to play euchre!
