Letter A Week: Sept 15-20, 2015

Although Helen isn't officially Homeschooling, it sure is fun to see how she will learn and develop this year.
She's already chatting quite a bit, as the video demonstrates.
Tuesday, Micah attended Miss Jane's Alphabet Adventures class at our Brighton Library (she's also going through the alphabet, starting with "A" this week, so we are tying into that). Afterward, the boys took to the yard to practice their golf skills.

And Helen was still practicing in anticipation of walking on her own.

Helen crawled over to and began exploring the fire pit. It's a good height for her to stand up at.

Letting go! While there isn't any photographic evidence, Helen did learn to climb down the two stairs into the living room this week.
Tuesday evening we had our first family bike ride, with Micah riding his own "big boy" bike. We only went down Fontanelle Lane, to the mailbox, but it was still a noteworthy accomplishment!

On Wednesday morning, we had our first Community Bible Class of the year. Each of the kids is in their own class, where they have a Bible story, music class, and a snack. The boys also get gym in their class. It was a big step for Helen to separate from Mom and she wasn't too happy about it. But we knew that over time she would adjust.
While the other two napped in the afternoon, Micah worked on putting together a puzzle of the USA, with the help of a map online.

On Thursday we visited the Detroit Zoo - because "A" is for animals, of course!

Friday morning we hung around at home, working on a few projects. Punching squares - look at that effort reflected on his face!
Mommy helped make a few more green squares and we made them into an "A" for alligator. Micah's creation:
 Henry's alligator:
It was easier to punch those squares when they had better leverage by sitting on the floor.
When all else fails, bring out the scissors.
"A" is for apple orchard. So after lunch on Friday we headed out to get some apple cider from our local orchard. Later that evening we went to our first ever Brighton Bulldogs football game.

We arrived in the 2nd quarter and stayed long enough to see the halftime show and a bit of the 3rd quarter (we were in it for the experience). Daddy bought us some popcorn and we hung out by the fence (the stands were packed - we had no idea it was going to be such a popular Friday night activity).

It was fun to be a part of the crowd though. Both boys got a turn to get a better view on Dad's shoulders.

Saturday morning we watched another kind of football game as Micah kicked off his soccer season. We began the day with a hearty breakfast, where Henry announced, "First I'm going to eat my bacon. 'Cause bacon is fun!"

 Helen led the cheering section.
We always need to make a stop at the playground after a soccer game or practice!
Even Daddy went down the slide!
While the younger two napped in the afternoon, Daddy took Micah out in the yard to practice shooting his BB gun.

 He was pretty proud!
It was a full week - but so many opportunities for learning!
