Oh, Henry! March 9-12, 2015

Smoothies for lunch dessert are always a hit!
On Monday, the boys turned the living room into tent city (again).
On Tues, Miss Jane was sick so Micah joined us in Henry and Helen's class. Meanwhile, Henry made his dad proud by spending a long time playing with the abacus. Math is definitely in his genes!
Later, Henry practiced his scissor skills.
He's always had decent hand-eye coordination, perhaps this goes along with his desire for independence.

On the tray, you can see the results of his labors.
Henry was very inquisitive and interactive at the dinosaur library this week.
Meanwhile, Mommy's accomplishments for the week included rescuing a chicken from the belly of an alligator.

 All in a day's work!
When asked this week what they want to be when the grow up, Micah declared he wants to be a police officer and an astronaut. Henry, meanwhile, has decided he wants to be a cake.
During the children's message in the evening Lent service, Henry took over. He began having a personal conversation with Pastor Rob (who handled everything very kindly). "Why was Jesus not sad?" and "That's pretty cute" about Pastor Rob's stoll. Daddy, who is easily embarrassed in public situations, said his body temperature went up about seven degrees. (He also threatened to refuse our boys the right to go up for the children's messages during the evening services, when they seem to be more awake and chatty than on Sunday mornings.)
In preparation for her surgery on Friday, Mommy and Helen visited the lactation consultant (a rather useless trip, other than the confirmation that we did not have thrush) and Helen began to roll over from back to belly for the first time. Helen loved the handmade origami cranes that Nami and Yuko made to show the prayers being offered on her behalf prior to her surgery. It certainly gave us comfort to be reminded that God was holding Helen through this procedure and always!
