Flint Children's Museum - Nov 19, 2014

We teamed up with our museum pals - the Fairbanks - and visited the Flint Children's Museum in November. It also happened to be the first big snow of the season, so while it took a little longer to drive on the snowy roads, we had the place nearly to ourselves for most of the morning.
Baby Lucy and Helen were good sports and allowed us to play for a long time at the museum. The little girls even color-coordinated their outfits.
The percussion room was a big hit with the boys. It was VERY noisy in there.
This did provide some inspiration for Henry's gift for his up coming birthday!
It reminded us of seeing the Bucket Boys for the International Friends Easter Celebration back in 2013.

Henry thought the stage coach was pretty cool.
He also tried to reach the pedals on the bike.
Barrett went for a more powerful mode of transportation - a helicopter.
There are a lot of cool things at the Flint Children's Museum, but one of the best parts is the little preschool-size town. There's a post office, from which you can deliver letters to all the other businesses, a restaurant with pizza ovens (one of Micah's favorite spots), a grocery store (Henry liked that part!), and a fire department, where Micah and Barrett enjoyed the fire truck. Don't they look official?!

 Henry shopped for groceries.
Something about those kid-size shopping carts is just so appealing to a toddler.
The Roe kids took a turn in the helicopter. It's not often at this stage that all three can enjoy something together, so Mommy took the opportunity to get some photos!

In the basement, there was an ancient Egypt exhibit, which wasn't quite as exciting as the permanent play areas for our crew, but Mommy and Miss Carrie did take turns sitting on Pharaoh's throne to breastfeed the baby sisters. And Henry thought the snake in the desert was pretty cool.
Back upstairs, the boys donned costumes and put on a show. As Mommy assured them, "All the world's a stage!"
They could watch themselves on the TV screen... so that distracted them from a concrete story line.
But they had an ace tech crew on the job!
Mr. Jon, Barrett and Lucy's dad, had the day off and joined us at the museum. It was really nice having one more adult - the moms could take their time to eat lunch after the kids quickly at their PB&J and were ready to go play with Mr. Jon.
Mr. Jon showed off his skills with Henry in the music room. The boys liked playing with him - makes us want to ask our Daddy to take a day off to go to the museum with us!
This was the boys' first time to encounter a climbing wall. While Henry is typically our little climber, it took a little more coordination than he could muster this time (but it'll be fun to see him in a year or two!).
Micah was starting to get the hang of it...

There was just so much to see and do!
The time went by so quickly, even though we were there 10am-2pm. We finished up with one more round of shopping and then headed home in the snow.

We were impressed with how much fun we had - this was probably the best museum for the preschool level that we've been to yet. We were all worn out though. Helen (and the rest of us) were ready to snuggle up when we got home!
