Then we headed inside to experience the Easter Celebration, including songs by the International Friends Women's Chorus, a message about the meaning of Easter by Pastor John (or "Rosie's Daddy," as Micah calls him), and a performance of the "Bucket Boys." Micah was mesmerized! (This is actually amazing because previously, he's been timid about things that are "noisy" - which they definitely were.) Here's a link to the events and performances that day. It was a fun, easy-English way to celebrate Easter with our international friends. At Easter we remember what Jesus did for us on the cross and through His resurrection - this gives us great joy. And the Bucket Boys certainly have their own way of sharing that joy!
After their performance, Micah got a first hand view of the Bucket Boys when they invited the kids (and adults) up on stage to play with them. He was thrilled!
At the end of the night, after all our guests had gone home and we were cleaning up, the Bucket Boys gave Micah his very own set of drum sticks. This was a kind gift... though Micah's parents are perhaps not quite as excited as Micah was with their generosity. Now Micah drums on EVERYTHING. He brings his drumsticks in the car (we had to explain what is ok to drum or not drum on... and only when there is not a passenger in the seat in front of him!), arranges the garbage cans and laundry baskets for drumming at Grandma's, and even broke a plastic bucket recently when drumming too enthusiastically. When Daddy watches Austin City Limits, Micah now drums along. He told Mommy, "When I get big, I'm gonna be a Bucket Boy!" When we pass by construction barrels on the side of the road, Micah says, "It's like the Bucket Boys!" and recently we discovered him drumming on Henry's carseat...with Henry in it! Perhaps we'll have a future drummer on our hands (or just some very annoyed parents)! :)
