Yumiko's Visit

We LOVE when our friends come back from Japan (or elsewhere) to visit! So we were delighted to see our old pal Yumiko Matsuzaki this spring. One thing we remember about Yumiko - she is a huge Pistons fan! She watched all their games this past season (even though they were terrible) and could "talk shop" about the team with Daddy.
Since Yumiko is such a big sports fan, we invited her and Miss Jan to come to Micah's soccer game, where she took these photos. Here's the pep talk from Coach Heather.
And Assistant Coach Daddy changing the line up.
And this is why Mommy wasn't taking photos - keeping an eye on little brother Henry is a full-time job!
He did make it out onto the field a few times. Here, he's getting some instruction from soccer expert Micah.
 Put me in, coach!
Yumiko got to experience first-hand the entertainment that is a game of soccer with 3 year olds. One boy kept scoring goals - in the wrong net. One girl just liked to throw herself onto the ball. And there was lots of falling down in general! After the game, we went back to our house for dinner on the grill. Henry, of course, had to wear his Pistons jersey in honor of Yumiko's visit. She said being with our boys made her look forward to someday becoming a grandma (she will be a GREAT grandma!). Yumiko got lots of English practice trying to understand Henry's toddler English and reading books to Micah. She's doing a great job of keeping in practice, even though she's living in Japan.
Wish we had taken more photos with Yumiko! But anyway, we had a lovely time catching up. It didn't seem like any time had passed since she moved back to Japan. We need to cheer for the Pistons to do well soon so that she will come back again to watch them in the playoffs!
