So here's a count of what the weekend held for us:
9 overnight guests on Wed
21 people & 1 dog for the day on Thursday
1 birthday cake celebrating 3 November birthday boys
17.5 lbs of turkey cooked the Roe way the weekend before
8 Roe grandkids (but just 1 girl)
2 overnight guests on Thursday
5 of us who spent the afternoon at the Henry Ford Museum Friday
101 lbs of venison from the deer Daddy "caught" on Black Friday
7 points on that buck
1 very thankful family!
Here's the photo highlights...
The kids enjoying waffles made by Aunt Samantha on Thanksgiving morning
Henry got to experience his very first Thanksgiving - he was a fan of the food! Mommy was thankful that she was hosting and NOT 9 months pregnant this year!
We did our best to get photos of the grandkids with the grandparents...
This one is Mommy's favorite, because it shows how challenging the idea really was!
All 8 grandkids lined up for a photo. We had to strategically place who was by (or not by) the babies!
It was fun hanging out together as a family!
And it was our first opportunity to meet the newest Roe cousin - Wesley Jordan Roe, born on Oct 28 to Aunt Samantha and Uncle Isaiah. He's a sweet little boy and going to be a great playmate in a couple years!

A quiet house after a big party is always a bit of a letdown, so we were glad that Aunt Victory and Heidi decided to stay one more night. Heidi and Micah enjoyed a Veggie Tales movie night on Thursday.
Henry loved snuggling with Heidi!
Daddy noticed the deer while we were eating breakfast on Friday morning. He asked Aunt Victory and Mommy if there were horns on it (Daddy wasn't wearing his contacts and his updated prescription glasses are broken - so he wore his old glasses and threw on some shoes when he went out with his gun to get this deer). The buck was interested in a doe who was just starting to walk through the valley - a lesson for all young bucks who shouldn't let a doe get in the way of critical thinking! Mommy and Aunt Victory got to see the whole scene unfold while watching from the living room window.
While Daddy worked on tracking the deer (which involved calling Uncle Andy to help, following a blood trail on melting snow, meeting a few neighbors for the first time when he had to knock on their doors to get permission to track on their property, and finally finding the deer right next to the basement window of one house), Aunt Victory, Heidi, Micah, Henry, and Mommy went to the Henry Ford Museum.
Mommy, Micah, and Heidi played school in a 1950's classroom.
Micah observed the Kennedy car.
Micah really enjoyed the airplanes. Henry was happy as long as Mommy kept moving. And fed him snacks.
Heidi & Micah tested out their own paper airplanes for flight.
Heidi was interested in the story of Rosa Parks as we sat on the bus. Micah was a little disappointed that the bus was not moving.
We also checked out the farm equipment.
It was a fabulous family weekend. God has given us so many blessings - and we are truly thankful for His love and care over the last year. Happy Thanksgiving!
