Treasures Above and Below - April 26-27, 2021

There's always something outside to entertain us at the Roe Ranch... on these days it included watching the neighbor's trees being taken down.
We had a pretty good view from up in our tree fort of the lumberjacks in the trees... and the snake on the ground.

Micah showed off some of the logs the boys recently cut up, including this one that looks like a bazooka.
Speaking of guns, Helen had the opportunity to shoot her pink BB gun from Grandma and Poppa Roe. (A BB gun for your 5th birthday is a rite of passage in the Roe family... though the pink color is optional.)

After waiting patiently, the boys had their turns as well. Dad is in charge of the artillery lessons at our homeschool. 😄
Even looking up in the sky brought an interesting sight on this day. Of course, it was Henry who noticed this rainbow phenomenon (he's so good at "noticing"!).
And we also noticed something exciting on the ground... morel mushrooms! Though I don't eat them myself (mushrooms generally don't agree with me), it is always exciting to hunt and gather them.
One more "treasure" on the ground - Henry and Helen discovered owl pellets along the driveway. They gathered some in a bucket so we could dissect them and try to guess from which animal the little bones came. Hooray for science in the woods!
