Mom (to Micah): ...Can you imagine that?
Henry: He can't imagine anything!
Mom: Yes, he can! This morning he imagined he could fly.
Micah: I didn't imagine that. That was real.
Here is the evidence of his flight:
After our long trip down south, it was nice to have the day to just be at home and be imaginative.
Micah decided to create a birthday cake for Helen, using play dough.
Naturally, a birthday candle was required.
Here's a step-by-step tutorial on how to make a birthday cake by Micah.
Next it was on to building with blocks. All three participated.
They were hard at work!
Standing on her own.
In the midst of all this industrious play, poor Daddy was all tuckered out and sleeping in the construction zone!
Happy birthday (again) for Helen! We hadn't had any special foods for Helen while we traveled on her birthday, so we decided to celebrate again with some special ice cream - and a birthday candle (Mommy washed the play dough off first).
Yummy!
After dinner, we played outside. It was warm, but we were thankful for a cooler Michigan evening than the hotter weather down in KY had been.
Just practicing for next summer when she will be able to use this bike on her own.
One of Helen's new words is "go!" (which sounds a bit more like "ga"). She likes to use it to signal the start of the boys' races.
The kids were tired and napped well after that, but Mommy woke them up early to come and see a special treat outside...
A hot air balloon flew right over the house - and not just any hot air balloon. This was decorated with Sandra Boynton characters!
She's one of our favorite authors for young children. In fact, Mommy and Daddy both have a number of her books memorized (this came in very handy when Micah was younger and would want the driver to read to him in the car - he could turn the pages in the backseat, while one of us would recite the words from memory in the front).
Sunday morning... we were recently given a bag of hand-me-downs which included a pair of "church shoes." Micah was so excited that he put them on by himself (without our knowledge - Sunday mornings tend to be a bit of a scramble at our house most weeks) to wear to church. When we got out of the Flex, we discovered what had happened - there was Micah, a big smile on his face and wearing shoes that were about 5 sizes too big. Mommy laughed so hard she couldn't stand up straight. There was nothing to do but go to church and hope he didn't trip!
The boys read books together in the tent in preparation for nap time (they had to eventually be separated, of course, because no one was going to sleep in that situation!).
In the evening, we headed to our favorite beach for a swim.
Helen's getting braver about being in the water.
Another surprising sight in the evening sky!
"Wow! Are you building a canal?""No. It's the Mississippi."
