On Wednesday, Micah's cousin Calla spent the day at our house while her parents were at work. These two kiddos have a lot of fun together! They get to play together at least once a week at Grandma's now and they learn a lot by playing together (gotta learn to share sometime!). This week, Calla even helped Micah begin to conquer his fear of the ramp in our hallway... "See, Micah, Calla doesn't have to crawl down backwards; she can walk down the ramp!" (Now he will attempt Calla's style about 50% of the time.)
I was thankful that Micah started off by showing Calla his toys - even handing them to her to play with. However, when I picked Calla up to show her the nice buck right outside the back window, he got a little disturbed (sharing toys is one thing, mommy is quite another!). Still, we worked through that and they got along pretty well. At lunchtime, they entertained each other - Calla played hide-and-seek with her washcloth (Micah thought this was hilarious), and Micah put his bowl in his mouth and shook it like a dog (Calla, who has a couple of dogs, also thought he was pretty funny).
We also took a trip outside - my ulterior motive being to tire them out for their naps. Thankfully, it worked, and they both went down at the same time - giving me about 40 min of free time. Since this was Calla's first time to our house since she's been mobile, she played it safe, staying on the driveway (just like Micah used to when we first started going out). Micah, on the other hand, had to show off and demonstrate his boyishness by playing "king of the hill" with a cement block - and crawling through the leaves (Calla didn't seem so impressed). We were thankful for the nice weather and some good moments together with the cousins. It's a real blessing to have these two grow up together, especially since they're just three weeks apart.
